Siggi Anton is an Icelandic designer who draws equal inspiration from the simple geometries of the modern, and the organic, playful textures of the eternal. He exhibited Lucio at Milan’s SaloneSatellite in 2007, where it was ranked among the top 10 pieces, as selected by the curator Marva Griffin-Wilshire for Metropolis magazine. Griffin-Wilshire is a member of the board of Architecture and Design at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
The light source is concealed behind a plastic backing suspended 25mm from the wall, ensuring an even distribution of light and an entrancing side view—as if the light is hovering over the wall. At 108 x 121 cm, the Lucio is a perfect piece for a wall two meters wide. Its LED lightbulbs consume as little as 40 watts and shine for over 30,000 hours, making the Lucio a green as well as an evergreen design piece.
